Therapy for High functioning depression
Depression in high-achieving individuals is easy to miss because from the outside, it doesn’t always look like depression. It often takes a more subtle form—something known as highfunctioning depression.
High functioning depression can look like this:
You’re still showing up. Getting your kids to their extracurricular activities after school, maintaining order and cleanliness in your house, meeting deadlines at work, attending those networking events with perfect posture and a smile on your face, making time to socialize with your friends, holding it all together
Most people around you wouldn’t guess anything is wrong. In fact, many people still view you as someone who “has it all” and look up to you.
Internally, you feel numb, drained, and burned out—like your energy is never fully recharged.
When you finally have some time to yourself, you don’t know what to do with it. You may end up stuck with doomscrolling, avoiding thinking about what you have to do tomorrow.
You try to get yourself back into a hobby that used to bring you joy, but you can’t seem to get the same spark it once had.
Just because you’re still able to show up doesn’t make your struggles any OOOless valid. Individual therapy offers you a space to understand the patterns you’ve been living in, and to begin shifting the ones that no longer serve you. With consistent, intentional work, you may gradually feel more present, connected, and grounded in your life over the course of our sessions. See below for your options.
